COLD FORGED PROCESS ON BMX STEMS

The production process known as COLD FORGED consists of "compressing" the materials in a mold so that the shape comes as close as possible to the product in its final appearance. This process gives more grain structure and increase strength.

Let's take some examples on SHADOW ODIN or SHADOW TREYMONE stems.

Technically this last process transforms the molecular aspect of the metal and weakens it, but thanks to cold forging this does not take place, the metal is then stronger.

By using cold forging, it is now possible to create a more solid and qualitative stem, at a lower selling price. Which allows riders to get a good product without breaking the bank!

The plasticity of aluminum at room temperature is low. The flow stress of aluminum decreases with increasing temperature. For alloys that are very easy to forge, such as 6061, there is an almost 50% decrease in yield stress between 700 deg F and 900 deg F.

The finished details of the product is done with the CNC process so the appearance is clean and homogeneous.
